Pensacola for Pets
Pets are now allowed on Pensacola Beach in a few areas and 2 new dog parks available on Perdido Key! Also dog and people swim beach right near

Perdido Key Dog Parks Open Saturday, March 23 2013
Two dog parks will open on Perdido Key at 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 23. The normal
operating hours for the parks will be from sunrise to 10 a.m.
through April 30, and from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. between May 1 and
September 30. Three more dog park locations on Perdido Key are
expected to open by summer.
The two locations are:
River Road Park, 14484 River Road
Gulf Access #3,14767 Perdido Key Drive
Rules for Perdido Key: Through April 30, dogs are permitted within the park without a leash, but
dogs must remain under the control and supervision of their handler
at all times. From May 1 through September 30, dogs must remain
fastened to a leash that does not exceed eight feet in length. The
leash must be held by the handler at all times. All owners must
abide by general park rules, posted on signs at the dog park
locations, at all times. For more information on Perdido Key dog

Pensacola Beach Dog ParksIn addition, two dog parks recently opened on Pensacola Beach. The Pensacola Beach parks
are open for a six-month trial period, from March 15 to September
Rules for Pensacola Beach: Owners
are required to keep their dogs on a leash, and signs will be posted
to designate dog-friendly areas. Doggie bags, disposal bins and hand
wipes will be available at both locations. For more information on

The Pensacola Bay Area is pet-friendly, offering a varietyofparks and events especially for you and your bud.
There are several dog parks located throughout the Pensacola Bay Area,includingthe dog beach and dog park at Bayview Park, Roger Scott Complex Dog Park and Shoreline Bark Park.
The dog park at Bayview Park is a protected acre on Bayou Texar for dogs to run and play. Next tothe park is a fenced dog beach where your dog can cool off in the water.
Roger Scott Complex Dog Park, located on Summit Boulevardnearthe Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport, provides dogs with the freedom to play with and meet new friends.
Shoreline Bark Park, off Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze, is 30,000 square feet of grassy area with benches, trash cans and doggie bags.
If you enjoy being active with your pet, the Pensacola Bay Area has avariety of beautiful pet-friendly trails to explore.
Bay Bluffs Park on Scenic Highway has a boardwalk and nature trail whereyour dog can explore the shaded bluffs.
The Pensacola Bay Area also offers several annual events for pets.
Barktoberfest, a fund-raiser event held every October for the HumaneSociety,is a day for dogs to eat and play in historic Seville Square.
During Mardi Gras, the Krewe of Junkanoo Kritter Krawl takes place onPensacola Beach. This parade of pets includes creatures from snakes and
lizards to dogs and horses, all decked out in their Mardi Gras garb.

Fort Barrancas allows dogs. Although dogs are not allowed in the fort or
other buildings, this historic place offers great scenery, hiking,
picnicking, and restrooms. Dogs of all sizes are allowed at no
additional fee. Dogs must always be attended, leashed at all times,
and cleaned up after. Dogs are allowed on the nature trail and in
picnic areas. They are open all year; from
March-October they are
open from 9:30am-5:00pm, and from
November-February they are open
Bayview Dog Beach
offers pets beach and water fun, and there are benches, picnic
tables, trash cans, pooper scooper stations, and a washing station on
site. Dogs must be sociable, current on all vaccinations, licensed,
and under their owner's control at all times. Dogs must be leashed
when not in designated off-lead areas. In the pic to the right, this
dog beach is located where you see the white bldg. across the water.

Big Lagoon and Johnson's Beach Gulf Islands National Seashores also allows dogs in
the park although not on the beaches. They are a five to ten minute
drive from us. The pass from Johnson's will get you in free into
five other private parks too!
Navy Point Walking Trail
has more than two miles of a paved walking trail along BayouGrande, ideal
for a walk you and your buddy can enjoy together. There is a beach to
swim there as well. (A 3 MILE DRIVE FROM OUR PLACE) Here is a video

Your pet and you can enjoy a canoe trip together for an additional
$10 for the dog. Dogs must be kept leashed at all times, and cleaned

Scott Complex Dog
Park, Summit Blvd. in Pensacola, (850)436-5511, is about
an acre in size, this off leash doggy play area offers water
fountains for hounds and humans, a pooper scooper station, benches,
and picnic tables. Dogs must be sociable, current on all
vaccinations, licensed, and under their owner's control at all times.
Dogs must be leashed when not in designated off-lead areas.
Pet friendly stores that welcome your pet

toys and just about anything else that your pet may need. Your
licensed and well-behaved leashed dog is allowed in the store. Ph:
Veterinary Emergency Referral Center, 4800 N. Davis Highway,
is an emergency animal hospital that is open 24 hours a day. Please
contact them before coming in if possible but you may also walk in
without an appointment at any time.
